This message of welcome comes from the President of the Asia Pacific Stroke Organization and Co-Convenor of the Asia Pacific Stroke Conference, Korea 2020. This meeting will take place from 4th to 6th December 2020,,
First of all, I wish to congratulate the Korean Stroke Society led by Prof Joung-Ho Rha and Prof Sun Kwon for their persistent efforts and resilience to continue hosting this meeting in these unprecedented times. The physical meeting had to endure date, venue and speaker changes before reverting to its current form. As I write this message, Covid-19 has affected most countries worldwide, going through many escalations and de-escalations. Every country has been affected and unfortunately, is only one major outbreak away from another lockdown albeit sharing many similar scenarios. It is with this background that the 2020 Asia Pacific Stroke Conference series has been rejuvenated.,
The scientific committee led by Profs Keun-Hwa Jung and NV Ramani have taken great care in consolidating the educational format and content to reflect the new normal in stroke care and producing a balanced and comprehensive program. There are not only elements of ‘state of the art’ stroke management but important content for countries with less resources. Again, this reflects the diversity of the region.
,
Historically, the annual Asia Pacific Stroke Conference, the flagship conference of the Asia Pacific Stroke Organization had moved physically across the region in many splendid cities since its inception in Cairns, Australia in 2009. As all of us will not be physically in Korea to enjoy this modern and historically rich country, I am certain that this virtual conference will continue to represent the spirit and character of the original physical version.
,
We will also have numerous grants for abstract/poster presentations and with industry support, the fees of this meeting is expected to be low enough to be accessible for all in the region. Please take the opportunity to participate from wherever you are.
,
I hope you will enjoy this virtual Stroke conference. All the best in your daily endeavours.
Stay Safe & Stay Healthy.
